If I said that I had given the album of the month to a band featuring five young attractive girls with a new self tittled album, chances are Nitocris are not the first band that spring to mind. Well what can I say about Nitocris, well I have known of them for quite some time thanks to my favorite aussie band of all time Def Fx. Rumour has it that when Nitocris were just starting out no one would let them play support, basically because they were to good, and they would usually show up the headline act. Anyway Def Fx let them play support and the rest is history, I hope that is all true. To be perfectly honest have not been a huge Nitocris fan (Sorry Girls), but I did buy 10 Stories Down after all the hype, and I was dissapointed. Then about six years later, I heard Dark Side what a song, the band had matured so well, they stired my interest once again, dark side became the third most played song on wall of sound last year. Now on to the album, once again a confession, I only bought the album because I am trying to get an interview with the band, but I was so Impressed It has made the Album of the month for July. It features some fantastic rock songs like Dark Side, O.B.I.D. Manic and In the Middle, as well as some lighter monents like askew. Overall a top album from the new champions of Femm rock in Australia, they are no longer just Girlfriend in Flanelette (I wonder If anyone understands that comment) and they certinally have much more tallent than five other young girls who have a new self titled album out at the moment. 8.25/10
