Wall of Sound Album of November
gerling - WHEN YOUNG TERROISTS CHASE THE SUN
The years most controversial album title belongs to gerling and through no fault of there own. When Young Terrorists Chase The Sun (From now on referred to as WYTCTS) was due for release on the 17/09/2001 just six days after a group of terrorists hijacked four planes crashing two of them into the world trade centre, one into the pentagon and one in a paddock. In a rare display of good taste by the record industry gerlings management decided to delay the release due to the events of September 11. Of course when gerling recorded the album and named the CD they had know idea how things would unfold.
The first single from the album "The Deer In You" was released back in late 2000. This single gave gerling there big break in the land of the rising sun (Japan). The band is huge there mainly due to their quirkiness. The single also did quite well in Australia. I also believe that Deka was released as a single.
The single that really got me moving however was the highly commercial "Dust Me Selecta" which was a top fifty hit for gerling. One thing you must do is check out the video clip to this one (My tip for best video at next years ARIAs) and the good news is its on the CD ROM part of the album. WYTCTS's singles are not the only highlight on this album, Kylie fans will love "G-House Project" which features Australia Pop Princess on lead vocals. Cool Keith also makes a guest appearance on "Brother Keith On Destructor Mountain 4001" in which he uses every rap cliche you can think of back to back.I really hope people don't buy WYTCTS expecting 14 dance anthems like Dust Me Selecta, that would be too straight forward for a band like gerling (PS Try looking under B for Bardot if that is what you are looking for) This album is fast paced and highly enjoyable to listen to. So get past the controversy of the Title (and of track 3 High Jackers Manual) and get into gerling..............8/10
