WALL OF SOUND ALBUM OF SEPTEMBER

iNSURGE! - GloBALiZATioN

It has been four years since iNSURGE! released their debut long player Power to the poison people and things changed. For starters their name now looks like this iNSURGE whin it used to be iNsuRge !!! , back in 1996 I would have pidgeon holed iNsuRge as a Industrial/Rock/Techno (in that order) outfit, Today iNSURGE are more techno/pop/rock/industrial, If you know what I mean. The subject matter in the songs is still the same - Giant Multi National Corporations F***ing up the planet and the Government doing its best to help them. I admire Chis Dubrow, sure he maybe a left wing hippie, but he has quite a excellent political mind ( I can see a political future for him Move over Peter Garrett).

Anyway the album opens with Inmages of London, a fast paced Techno/pop/dance number, which bags out the class stucture of the UK. Next in Dubrows sites is the Fosil Fuel companies on Talk of the sun, and then on to the pollies on Economist King. The most agressive attack appears to be on track five Happy Birthday Union Carbide - where iNSURGE use samples of news readers after the Union Carbide disaster. I was very young when this happened, but from memory - Union Carbide (makers of batteries I think) had a huge gas leak(I think) in India(I think) and it killed lots of people (16,000(I think) and injured heaps more (250,000(I think). According to the song the fine that Union Carbide recieved worked out to be $300.00 per life they took, Nasty.

To cut a long story short, excellent album 7.5/10, best tracks Images of London/Feast or famine/ Happy Birthday Union Carbide, oh and Sydney 2000 Toxic Sludge ( sure to be on high rotation around mid September 2000)
